Sixth-ranked Antwerp Giants (15-14) made lots of trouble for first ranked Oostende (21-7). The visitors from Oostende managed to secure only two-point victory 93-91. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Antwerp Giants won second period 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Antwerp Giants used huge pressure winning it 18-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 11-13. 28 personal fouls committed by Antwerp Giants helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider) nailed 33 points (!!!) (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side and Serbian-Montenegrin guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Oostende's coach Dario Gjergja allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason, agency: Court Side) came up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the other American import Barry Stewart (190-88, college: Mississippi St., agency: Pro One Sports) added 15 points respectively for Antwerp Giants in the defeat. Oostende have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-7 record. Antwerp Giants at the other side keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Oostende's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Antwerp Giants will play against Kangoeroes (#9) in Willebroek and hope to win that game.
