Very important is a road loss of third ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (25-20) against fourth ranked Shiga L-Stars (25-22) on Saturday night. Visiting Hamamatsu Phoenix was defeated by Shiga L-Stars in a tough game in Shiga 81-86. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Hamamatsu Phoenix won third quarter 31-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shiga L-Stars forced 19 Hamamatsu Phoenix turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Hamamatsu Phoenix helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Forward Marshall Brown (199-85, college: Missouri) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa) added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Hamamatsu Phoenix. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shiga L-Stars. They maintain fourth place with 25-22 record. Hamamatsu Phoenix lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the third position with 20 games lost. Shiga L-Stars' next round opponent will be again higher ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (#3) in Mikawa and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
