Fifth ranked MIA won a double-overtime thriller edging 4th placed Sokhumi by seven points 102-109 on Saturday night. The game took place in Tbilisi. But the guests were better at the end. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sokhumi. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-20. But Sokhumi won second period 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Sokhumi used huge pressure winning it 22-20 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually double-overtime period 5-10. MIA dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Sokhumi's 48. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84, agency: Interperformances) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. MIA's coach Archil Jgenti used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds and forward Irakli Chlaidze (199-89) added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Sokhumi. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MIA have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion (9-5) moved-up to fourth place. Sokhumi at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. MIA will face Batumi (#5) on the road in the next round. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Armia.
