Second Stage Round 4: Asseco - Stabill Jezioro 76-68

There was no surprise in Gdynia where 5th ranked Stabill Jezioro (6-21) was defeated by second ranked Asseco (13-13) 76-68 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-12. But Stabill Jezioro won second period 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Asseco looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Russian Fedor Dmitriev (204-84, agency: Alti Sport) fired 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Lukasz Seweryn (195-82) chipped in 19 points. Asseco's coach David Dedek used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (203-90, college: Oklahoma) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Kevin Goffney (196-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Asseco maintains second position in Places 7-12 with 13-13 record having seven points less than leader PGE Turow, which they share with AZS Koszalin. Loser Stabill Jezioro keeps the fifth place with 21 games lost. Asseco will face Polpharma (#4) in Starogard in the next round. Stabill Jezioro will play at home against the league's leader Slask Wroclaw and hope to win that game.
