Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Leganes (9-12) edged 9th ranked Araski AES (7-14) in Vitoria-Gasteiz 64-63 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-63. Leganes outrebounded Araski AES 52-30 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Alejandra De La Fuente (192-88) who saved her team from a defeat with 7 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican guard Yohanna Morton (172-87, college: Robert Morris) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Christina Dewitt (188-87, college: N.Carolina) answered with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Estibaliz Castano (-85) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Araski AES. Leganes maintains seventh place in Group B with 9-12 record. Newly promoted Araski AES dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Leganes will face IF Air Europa (#8) in S'Arenal in the next round. Araski AES will play on the road against Promete in Logrono and hope to win that game.
