Regular Season Round 24: Kolossos - Ilysiakos 72-60

There was no surprise in Rodou where 13th ranked Ilysiakos (6-18) was defeated by eleventh ranked Kolossos (9-15) 72-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kolossos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ilysiakos' 28. They outrebounded Ilysiakos 42-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Ilysiakos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Taylor Smith (198, college: SF Austin) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The other American import point guard Bryan Hopkins (183-83, college: SMU) chipped in 9 points and 5 assists. Kolossos' coach Vasilis Fragias used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Courtney Pigram (185-85, college: E.Tenn.St.) who recorded 17 points and Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Norton Sports Management) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Kolossos moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Trikalla and AGOR. Loser Ilysiakos dropped to the bottom position with 18 games lost. Kolossos will face Ikaros (#13) in Kalitheas in the next round. Ilysiakos will play at home against PAOK and hope to win that game.
