Regular Season Round 38: Poitiers - Nantes 81-80

Fourteenth-ranked Nantes (15-23) was very close to win a game against eighth ranked Poitiers (20-18). Poitiers managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nantes. The hosts were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 21-19 run, which allowed them to win the game. Poitiers made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Dominican swingman Jeff Greer (196-79, college: Rutgers) who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Karim Souchu (198-79, college: Furman) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. Poitiers' coach Rudy Nelhomme allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Naturalized Senegalese forward Moustapha N'Diaye (204-84) produced 20 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and American center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Nantes players scored in double figures. Poitiers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Fos Ouest. Nantes at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 23 games lost. Poitiers' next round opponent will be higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (#5) in Aix-les-Bains and it may be quite challenging game. Nantes will play on the road against SPO Rouen (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
