Tenth-ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (5-24) made lots of trouble for second ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (21-8) in Quaregnon on Saturday. Belfius Mons-Hainaut managed to secure only seven-point victory 92-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Basic-Fit Brussels trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 34-23 run in the last quarter tied the game at the end of regular time, But then they lost eventually overtime period 6-13. The best player for the winners was American point guard Talor Battle (182-88, college: Penn St.) who scored 22 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import power forward Jason Love (206-87, college: Xavier) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds. American power forward Brandon Ubel (209-91, college: Nebraska) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Aleksander Lichodzijewski (202-84) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Belfius Mons-Hainaut and five Basic-Fit Brussels players scored in double figures. Basic-Fit Brussels' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Belfius Mons-Hainaut maintains second place with 21-8 record having just -1 point less than leader Oostende. Newly promoted Basic-Fit Brussels stay dead last with 24 lost games. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will face Liege Basket (#3) in Liege in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Basic-Fit Brussels will play at home against the league's leader Oostende (#1) and hope to win that game.
