An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Thessaloniki. First ranked Panathinaikos faced 4th ranked PAOK. Guests from Athens (23-1) defeated host PAOK (14-10) 82-71. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. PAOK managed to win third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panathinaikos dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to PAOK's 36. The best player for the winners was Gabonese center Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) who scored 20 points. The former international point guard Dimitris Diamantidis (196-80) chipped in 10 points and 7 assists. Five Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Giorgos Bogris (210-89) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard D.J. Cooper (183-90, college: Ohio, agency: N.E.T.) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive 23-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 23-1 record. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face AGOR (#9) in Rethymno in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play on the road against Ilysiakos (#14) in Athens and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
