Umana Venezia was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 27-18 charge of Tuscany Pistoia, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Brad Wanamaker (193-89, college: Pittsburgh) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 6 assists. The other American import forward Ed Daniel (201-90, college: Murray St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American Andre Smith (204-85, college: N.Dakota St.) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Jacopo Giachetti (190-83) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Umana Venezia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tuscany Pistoia moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Umana Venezia. Tuscany Pistoia will face Sutor Montegranaro (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
