Regular Season Round 23: Perpignan - Pays d'Aix 51-43

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Pays d'Aix (9-14) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Perpignan (12-3) 51-43. It looked good early as Pays d'Aix took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Perpignan had a 18-6 second period charge getting the lead and Pays d'Aix was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 43-51. Perpignan dominated on the defensive end, holding Pays d'Aix to just 6 points in second quarter. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Perpignan forced 22 Pays d'Aix turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Elodie Bertal (191-84) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Marie Frederique Ayissi (184-82) accounted for 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Shenita Landry (188-87, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds and center Justine Barthelemy (185-93) added 9 points respectively for Pays d'Aix in the defeat. Perpignan moved-up to fourth place. Pays d'Aix at the other side keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Perpignan will have a break next round. Pays d'Aix will play at home against Avenir (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
