Regular Season Round 17: Bejjeh - Amchit 82-92

Very expected game when 9th ranked Bejjeh (2-15) was defeated at home by third ranked Amchit (13-4) 92-82 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Amchit. Bejjeh was better in fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Bejjeh outrebounded Amchit 44-27 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) who scored 31 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. French Ali Traore (208-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 29 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Mario Abboud (204-81) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Jonathon Avery (201-88, college: IUPUI, agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Bejjeh players scored in double figures. Amchit keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Riyadi and Sagesse. Bejjeh lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 15 games lost. Amchit will face Byblos (#4) at home in the next round. Bejjeh will play against Hoops Club (#10) in Beirut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
