Regular Season Round 8: Guaymas - Nogales 101-90

Date: April 9, 2014
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (1-7) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (3-3) 101-90 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 55-43 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Myron Allen (182-79, college: Lee JC) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 9 assists and forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) responded with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Gary Johnson (198-88, college: Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Fuerza Guinda Nogales' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains sixth position with 3-3 record. Fuerza Guinda Nogales lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play against the league's second-placed Frayles de Guasave (#2) and hope to win that game.
