Regular Season Round 39: Le Portel - Boulogne 70-73

There was no surprise when 4th placed Le Portel (23-16) was edged at home by first ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (28-11) 73-70 on Friday. Le Portel was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 20-13 charge of SO Maritime Boulogne, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American forward Zachery Peacock (203-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pro One Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Stephen Brun (202-80) helped adding 19 points. SO Maritime Boulogne's coach Germain Castano used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Ronnie Taylor (187-81, college: NC-Greensboro) scored 20 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). SO Maritime Boulogne have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 28-11 record. Le Portel at the other side keeps the fourth position with 16 games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne will face Boulazac Basket (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Le Portel will play against JL Bourg (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
