Regular Season Round 53: Kyoto Hannar. - Oita H.Devils 74-70

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Oita Heat Devils (19-28) lost on the road to second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (32-17) 74-70 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Oita Heat Devils were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Oita Heat Devils were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points. point guard Shun Watanuki (178-87) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Kyoto Hannar. players scored in double figures. Forward Shuichi Takada (194-83) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) added 17 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Oita Heat Devils. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Kyoto Hannar.. They maintain second place with 32-17 record having five points less than leader Okinawa GK. Oita Heat Devils lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with 28 games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face again Oita Heat Devils (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
