Undefeated Rayos de Hermosillo (8-1) recorded its first loss on the court of third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Tijuana Zonkeys 85-78. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Rayos de Hermosillo. Rayos de Hermosillo was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Tijuana Zonkeys dominated on the defensive end, holding Rayos de Hermosillo to just 6 points in first quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) who scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains third place with 5-2 record having five points less than leader Hermosillo. Defending champion Rayos de Hermosillo still keeps top position with one game lost. Tijuana Zonkeys are again looking forward to face league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
