Regular Season Round 53: Osaka Evessa - Takamatsu FA 66-72

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Takamatsu FA (20-28) won against on the road 6th ranked Osaka Evessa (21-27) 72-66 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-10. But Osaka Evessa won second period 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Takamatsu FA won last quarter 16-12. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Takamatsu FA outrebounded Osaka Evessa 36-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. American forward Andrais Thornton (203-85, college: NW Missouri St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Takamatsu FA players scored in double figures. Takamatsu FA's coach Kenzo Maeda used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American swingman D'Andre Bell (198-87, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 16 points and swingman Yosuke Sugawara (187-83) added 16 points in the effort for Osaka Evessa. Takamatsu FA moved-up to seventh place. Loser Osaka Evessa keeps the sixth position with 27 games lost. Takamatsu FA will have a break next round.
