Regular Season Round 31: CFBB - Angers BC 74-81

No shocking result in a game in Paris where second ranked Angers BC (22-9) defeated bottom-ranked CFBB (0-33) 81-74 on Saturday. CFBB was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Angers BC made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. CFBB was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) fired a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Spanish point guard Carlos Cherry (184-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Cyrille Eliezer-Vanerot (198-96) produced 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Stephane Gombauld (202-97) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Angers BC maintains second place with 22-9 record having four points less than leader Monaco. CFBB at the other side still closes the standings. Angers BC will face league's leader Monaco at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CFBB will play against JA Vichy (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
