Second Stage Round 6: Kotwica - AZS Koszalin 58-82

No shocking result in a game in Kolobrzeg where third ranked AZS Koszalin (15-13) smashed 6th ranked Kotwica (4-24) 82-58 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by AZS Koszalin. Kotwica was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS Koszalin dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Kotwica's 26. They outrebounded Kotwica 39-23 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeff Robinson (198-88, college: Seton Hall) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import center Darrell Harris (205-84, college: Rhode Island) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman J.J. Montgomery (193-82, college: Arkansas St.) who recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Michael Gospodarek (186-91) added 5 points and 9 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AZS Koszalin have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of Places 7-12 leader, which they share with Asseco and Slask Wroclaw. Kotwica lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 24 games lost. AZS Koszalin will face league's leader Asseco in Gdynia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kotwica will play on the road against the league's second-placed Slask Wroclaw (#2) and hope to win that game.
