Regular Season Round 31: Brussels - Kangoeroes 116-87
Date: April 13, 2014
Bottom-ranked Basic-Fit Brussels managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the series of three consecutive loses on Sunday night. This time newly promoted Basic-Fit Brussels outleveled ninth-ranked Kangoeroes 116-87. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 29-point difference proves that Basic-Fit Brussels was well-prepared to that game. The game without a history. Basic-Fit Brussels led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 63.8 percent from the field. Basic-Fit Brussels forced 22 Kangoeroes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Kangoeroes' players. Canadian swingman Stephen Ross (201-80, college: Santa Clara, agency: Court Side) fired 28 points and 8 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international guard Domien Loubry (186-85) chipped in 18 points and 9 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Basic-Fit Brussels players scored in double figures. American power forward Maurice Pearson (206-89, college: Georgetown, KY, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Randy Oveneke (201-86) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Basic-Fit Brussels (6-25) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Kangoeroes. Kangoeroes lost their third game in a row. Basic-Fit Brussels will meet higher ranked Liege Basket (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kangoeroes will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#3) and hope to secure a win.
