Very important is a home loss of third ranked Angelico Biella (19-10) against fifth ranked Tezenis VE (19-10) on Sunday night. Host Angelico Biella was defeated by Tezenis VE in a tough game in Biella 79-88. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Angelico Biella. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-18. But Angelico Biella won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tezenis VE made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Tezenis VE outrebounded Angelico Biella 41-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Naturalized American Craig Callahan (204-81, college: NC-Wilmington) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Jerry Smith (188-87, college: Louisville) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Four Tezenis VE players scored in double figures. American-Danish guard Alan Voskuil (191-86, college: Texas Tech) responded with 23 points and forward Eric Lombardi (200-93) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Tezenis VE moved-up to third place, which they share with Angelico BI. Tezenis VE will play against FCM Ferentino (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Angelico Biella will play against the league's leader Trento (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
