Leader Agrigento delivered the twentieth second win on Sunday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Matera (16-13) 82-65. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Agrigento's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-12 extending their advantage to 17 points. Agrigento forced 27 Matera turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Kwame Vaughn (190-90, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Alessandro Piazza (174-87) chipped in 7 points, 12 assists and 7 steals. Agrigento's coach Franco Ciani used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (207-91, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Matera players scored in double figures. Agrigento maintains first place with 22-6 record. Matera lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Ravenna. Agrigento are looking forward to face P.Mantovana (#3) in Mirandola in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Matera will play at home against Casalpusterlengo (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
