Regular Season Round 40: Fos Ouest - St Quentin 76-70

Date: April 15, 2014
Not a big story in a game in Fos-sur-Mer where 10th ranked Saint-Quentin (20-20) was defeated by sixth ranked Fos Ouest (22-18) 76-70 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Saint-Quentin won fourth quarter 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fos Ouest dominated on the defensive end, holding Saint-Quentin to just 7 points in second quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Jamaican-American Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and point guard Edouard Choquet (188-88) who added 11 points and 9 assists during the contest. Four Fos Ouest players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Markel Humphrey (198-87, college: Marshall, agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Julien Lesieu (201-83) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Fos Ouest moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Saint-Quentin at the other side keeps the tenth position with 20 games lost. Fos Ouest will meet bottom-ranked Saint Vallier (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Saint-Quentin will play against the league's second-placed Chalons-Reims (#2) and hope to secure a win.
