Second Stage Round 7: Stelmet ZG - Anwil 83-66

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Zielona Gora. Second ranked Stelmet ZG faced 4th placed Anwil. Host Stelmet ZG (22-7) defeated guests from Wloclawek (16-13) 83-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Anwil. The game was mostly controlled by Stelmet ZG. Anwil was better in fourth quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Anwil 36-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Stelmet ZG players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) contributed with 11 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Stelmet ZG players scored in double figures. Stelmet ZG's coach Mihailo Uvalin used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) answered with 16 points and 6 assists and international Piotr Pamula (195-90) added 18 points in the effort for Anwil. Defending champion keeps a position of Places 1-6 leader, which they share with PGE Turow. Anwil at the other side keeps the fourth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Rosa Radom. Stelmet ZG will play against Trefl Sopot (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Anwil will play against Energa Czarni in Slupsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
