Regular Season Round 27: JuveCaserta - Montepaschi 78-76

The most exciting game of round 27 in the SerieA took place in Caserta. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Montepaschi Siena (18-9) to eighth ranked Juvecaserta (13-14) 78-76 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Montepaschi Siena. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 24-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Montepaschi Siena 37-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American point guard Ronald Moore (183-88, college: Siena) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeff Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) helped adding 17 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The best for the losing side was American point guard Erick Green (190-91, college: Virginia Tech) with 24 points and 5 rebounds and Liberian-American power forward Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee services) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Montepaschi Siena players scored in double figures. Juvecaserta maintains eighth place with 13-14 record. Defending champion Montepaschi Siena keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Cantu and Enel Brindisi. Juvecaserta are looking forward to face higher ranked Banco di Srd (#5) in Sassari in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Montepaschi Siena will play at home against Enel Brindisi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
