Regular Season Round 41: Poitiers - Souffel 71-49
Date: April 19, 2014
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Poitiers (23-18) crushed at home 12th ranked Souffelweyersheim (18-23) 71-49 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-49. Center Moustapha Fall (218-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points and 10 rebounds. American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: Le Moyne) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Jessie Begarin (190-88, agency: Court Side) answered with 15 points and naturalized Chadian forward Jacques Alingue (203-88) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Souffelweyersheim. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Poitiers. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Souffelweyersheim keeps the twelfth position with 23 games lost. Poitiers will face Fos Ouest (#8) in Fos-sur-Mer in the next round. Souffelweyersheim will play at home against Orchesien BC (#17) and hope to win that game.
