Second Stage Round 8: Stelmet ZG - Trefl Sopot 93-85

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Stelmet ZG's (23-7) home victory over 3rd ranked Trefl Sopot (20-10) in Zielona Gora 93-85 on Saturday. Trefl Sopot trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 12 after three quarters before a 23-19 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 85-93 at the end of the game. Stelmet ZG looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Montenegrin power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) contributed with 17 points for the winners. International Michal Michalak (196-93) replied with 22 points and international swingman Adam Waczynski (199-89) added 19 points in the effort for Trefl Sopot. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion keeps a position of Places 1-6 leader, which they share with PGE Turow. Trefl Sopot at the other side keeps the third place with ten games lost. Stelmet ZG will face Energa Czarni (#6) in Slupsk in the next round where they are favorite. Trefl Sopot will play on the road against Rosa Radom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
