Fourteenth-ranked CFBB (2-25) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Le Havre (13-12) in Paris on Saturday. The visitors from Le Havre managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-10. But CFBB won second period 14-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where CFBB used huge pressure winning it 18-13 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually triple-overtime period 4-4. Le Havre made 33-of-41 free shots (80.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 CFBB turnovers. Strangely CFBB outrebounded Le Havre 124-109 including a 74-60 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 26 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. Le Havre looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Le Havre made 19 blocks. Sarah Ousfar (183-93) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and point guard Joelly Belleka (163-95) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Ornella Bankole (180-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and center Alexia Chartereau (189-98) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Le Havre and four CFBB players scored in double figures. CFBB's coach Gregory Halin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Le Havre moved-up to fifth place. CFBB lost fifth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Le Havre will face Charnay (#12) in Charnay-les-Macon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CFBB will play on the road against Reims and hope to win that game.
