CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (12-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Mineros de Caborca (3-11) in Cananea 89-82. Mineros de Caborca was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 27-19 charge of Rayos de Hermosillo, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) who scored that evening 23 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) supported him with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 26 points by American guard Terrence Joyner (190-88, college: Miss.Valley St.) did not help to save the game for Mineros de Caborca. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-2 record. Mineros de Caborca at the other side keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Guaymas. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Garra Canera de Navolato (#5) at home in the next round. Mineros de Caborca will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
