Very expected game when 7th ranked Bulleen Boomers (3-5) were edged at home by third ranked Waverley Falcons (7-1) 91-88 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bulleen Boomers won fourth quarter 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bulleen Boomers were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for point guard Bradley Kelleher (182-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who helped to win the game recording 31 points. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-83, college: Alaska-Anch.) contributed with 28 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Thaddeus Varmall (191-91, college: York, NB) answered with 32 points and 5 assists and Jimmy Todd added 15 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Bulleen Boomers. Five Bulleen Boomers players scored in double figures. Waverley Falcons maintains third place in League with 7-1 record having just -15 point less than leader Brisbane C. Loser Bulleen Boomers dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Hawthorn (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bulleen Boomers will play against McKinnon (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
