There was no surprise when 8th ranked Yokohama BC (24-27) was edged at home by third ranked Akita Happinets (39-12) 89-87 on Saturday. Yokohama BC was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-21 charge of Akita Happinets, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Akita Happinets made 11 blocks. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) stepped up and scored 25 points and 9 assists for the winners and American forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) chipped in 21 points and 13 rebounds.
