Regular Season Round 7: Corio Bay S. - Hawthorn M. 91-69

No shocking result in a game when leader Stingrays (9-0) crushed 12th ranked Hawthorn (1-7) in Geelong 91-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Stingrays. Hawthorn was better in third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hawthorn to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Stingrays dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hawthorn's 28. They outrebounded Hawthorn 51-38 including 21 on the offensive glass. Stingrays looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Jason Reardon (189-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Ma'Alo Hicks (201-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Four Stingrays players scored in double figures. Kieran Kaufman answered with 14 points and 8 assists and American guard Dan Kusnyer (193, college: Bloomsburg) added 15 points in the effort for Hawthorn. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stingrays maintains first place in League with 9-0 record. Newly promoted Hawthorn keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. Stingrays will face Hume City Broncos (#4) in the next round. Hawthorn will play against Devils (#9) and hope to win that game.
