Regular Season Round 7: Ballarat M. - Frankston B. 89-95

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Ballarat Miners (1-4) lost to seventh ranked Frankston Blues (3-3) in Wendouree 89-95 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Ballarat Miners were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Brandon Polk (200-84, college: Butler) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Chuck Long (198-82) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Frankston Blues players scored in double figures. American forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and the other American import swingman Roy Booker (191-84, college: SE Missouri St.) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Ballarat Miners. Frankston Blues moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Ballarat Miners dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Frankston Blues will face league's second-placed Spectres in East Burwood in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ballarat Miners will play at home against Bandits (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
