Regular Season Round 7: Melbourne T. - Eltham W. 73-69

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Melbourne Giants and 12th ranked Eltham Wildcats had identical 1-7 record. This time Melbourne Giants used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from 73-69 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. It was a very good performance for Jock Landale who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Geremy McKay (-96) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Melbourne Giants players scored in double figures. James Malvaso answered with 21 points and guard Kristian Williams (187-88, college: Southwestern, IA) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Eltham Wildcats. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Melbourne Giants (2-7) moved-up to eleventh place in League. Loser Eltham Wildcats dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Melbourne Giants will face higher ranked Devils (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eltham Wildcats will play against McKinnon (#10) and hope to win that game.
