Everything went according to plan when second ranked Cantu (19-9) outleveled on the road 15th ranked Sutor Montegranaro (8-20) 96-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Cantu. Sutor Montegranaro was better in third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cantu shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 62.5 percentage. American point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) fired 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international Pietro Aradori (194-88) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Five Cantu players scored in double figures. Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (204-88, agency: Beo Basket) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international power forward Valerio Mazzola (205-88) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cantu maintains second position with 19-9 record having just two points less than leader EA7 Armani, which they share with Montepaschi. Sutor Montegranaro at the other side keeps the fifteenth place with 20 games lost. Cantu will face Trenkwalder RE (#7) in Reggio Emilia in the next round where they are favorite. Sutor Montegranaro will play at home against Air Avellino (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
