Regular Season Round 26: Nea Kifisia - Olympiacos 67-75

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Athens: Olympiacos (#2) and Nea Kifisia (#5). Nea Kifisia was defeated at home 67-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as Nea Kifisia took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Olympiacos had a 21-11 second period charge getting the lead and Nea Kifisia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-75. Olympiacos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international Georgios Printezis (202-85) notched 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) supported him with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Nikos Barlos (203-79) did not help to save the game for Nea Kifisia. point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) added 7 points and 8 assists for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olympiacos (24-2) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain second position behind leader Panathinaikos. Newly promoted Nea Kifisia keeps the fifth place with 12 games lost.
