CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (14-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (5-12) 98-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fuerza Guinda Nogales. The game was mostly controlled by Rayos de Hermosillo. Fuerza Guinda Nogales was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rayos de Hermosillo dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Fuerza Guinda Nogales' 38. Rayos de Hermosillo had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a quality performance for forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) accounted for 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Little attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. point guard Cheyne Gadson (192-80, college: Oklahoma St.) came up with 18 points and 5 assists and swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Fuerza Guinda Nogales in the defeat. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-3 record. Fuerza Guinda Nogales at the other side keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will again play against Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will have a break next round.
