Regular Season Round 19: Guasave - Los Mochis 100-104

The game between second ranked Frayles de Guasave (13-4) and fourth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (10-7) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Frayles de Guasave was defeated by Pioneros Los Mochis in a tough game in Guasave 100-104. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Frayles de Guasave. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Frayles de Guasave won third quarter 32-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pioneros Los Mochis made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. His fellow American import forward Taylor King (203-88, college: Concordia Irvine, agency: Elite Talent Exchange) helped adding 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Funn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) responded with 29 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the former international forward Alonso Izaguirre (200-76) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Five Pioneros Los Mochis and four Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains fourth place with 10-7 record. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Frayles de Guasave will play again at home against Pioneros Los Mochis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
