Everything went according to plan in Sevilla where eighth ranked Cajasol (16-14) beat 14th ranked CB Canarias (11-19) 81-67 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cajasol led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, college: Weber St.) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian Marcos Mata (199-86) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Lucas Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Joan Carles Bivia (185-85) scored 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cajasol moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Laboral Kutxa and CAI Zaragoza. Loser CB Canarias dropped to the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Cajasol will face Blusens Monbus (#12) in Santoago de Comp in the next round where they are favorite. CB Canarias will play at home against the league's second-placed Valencia Basket and hope to win that game.
