Tenth-ranked Cimberio Varese (13-16) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Montepaschi Siena (20-9) on Sunday. The visitors from Siena managed to secure only nine-point victory 80-71. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cimberio Varese. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 19-16 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 9-point victory in overtime. Cimberio Varese was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Five Cimberio Varese players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second place with 20-9 record having just two points less than leader EA7 Armani. Cimberio Varese at the other side keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Montepaschi Siena will face league's leader Armani Milano at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
