Mersin Univ. got to the winning start of their Final stage campaign. They overcame Bursa BSB in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Mersin Univ.. Bursa BSB was better in fourth quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mersin Univ. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Bursa BSB's 32. They outrebounded Bursa BSB 39-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian center Elena Staschuk (192-85, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds. Nebahat Ceylan Durgun contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Mersin Univ.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Arzu Akay (186-76) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds and forward Ferda Yildiz (183-93) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bursa BSB. Four Bursa BSB players scored in double figures.
