There was no surprise when 9th ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (7-28) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Leuven Bears (17-18) 89-82 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Basic-Fit Brussels won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Leuven Bears especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a great evening for swingman Olivier Troisfontaines (192-89, agency: LBM Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Stephane Moris (208-86, agency: Promotex) helped adding 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Troisfontaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international center Aleksander Lichodzijewski (202-84) responded with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American power forward Brandon Ubel (209-91, college: Nebraska) scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Leuven Bears maintains seventh place with 17-18 record. Basic-Fit Brussels lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with 28 games lost. They share it with Verviers-Pep.. Leuven Bears will meet at home league's leader Oostende in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Basic-Fit Brussels will play against Antwerp Giants (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
