The game in Nogales was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (12-8) played at the court of 8th ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (5-15). Pioneros Los Mochis defeated Fuerza Guinda Nogales 112-102 on Wednesday. Fuerza Guinda Nogales were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 35-20 charge of Pioneros Los Mochis, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Fuerza Guinda Nogales' 38 and made 30-of-38 free shots (78.9 percent) during the game. American guard D'angelo Jackson (185, college: Miss.Valley St., agency: Interperformances) notched 40 points (!!!) (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the effort and the other American import guard William Funn (188-82, college: Portland St.) supported him with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Worth to mention Funn played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Even 31 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by American swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) did not help to save the game for Fuerza Guinda Nogales. The former international forward Michael Strobbe (201-85) added 26 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains fourth position with 12-8 record. Fuerza Guinda Nogales lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Caborca. Pioneros Los Mochis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will play against Mineros de Caborca (#8) in Cananea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
