CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (17-4) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (5-14) 84-71. The game was mostly controlled by Rayos de Hermosillo. Ostioneros de Guaymas managed to win fourth quarter 26-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rayos de Hermosillo looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was guard Joel Smith (193-90, college: Northeastern) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Billy White (203-89, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and guard Kashif Watson (193-87, college: Idaho) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-4 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play again against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo (#1) and hope to secure a win.
