Regular Season Round 33: Iberostar Tener. - Valencia 91-100
Date: May 15, 2014
No shocking result in a game in Tenerife where second ranked Valencia Basket (30-3) won against 12th ranked CB Canarias (13-20) 100-91. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CB Canarias won third quarter 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Valencia Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Oliver Lafayette (188-84, college: Houston, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international guard Rafael Martinez (191-82) contributed with 20 points for the winners. American forward Lucas Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Ricardo Uriz (19-80) added 6 points and 11 assists in the effort for CB Canarias. Five Valencia Basket and four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. CB Canarias' coach Alejandro Martinez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the thirteenth consecutive win for Valencia Basket. They maintain second place with 30-3 record behind leader Real Madrid. CB Canarias at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 20 games lost. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be FIATC Joventut (#9) in Badalona and are hoping to win another game. CB Canarias will play on the road against La Bruixa d'Or in Manresa and hope to win that game.
