An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Hermosillo. First ranked Rayos de Hermosillo faced 3rd placed Tijuana Zonkeys. Host Rayos de Hermosillo (20-5) defeated guests from Tijuana (16-7) 89-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tijuana Zonkeys. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 30-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach Dan Tacheny used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) with 18 points and 5 assists and the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-5 record. Loser Tijuana Zonkeys dropped to the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Guasave. Rayos de Hermosillo will again meet at home Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round.
