Regular Season Round 27: Navolato - Guaymas 90-97

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (8-17) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (6-17) 97-90 on Friday. Garra Canera de Navolato trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 27-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 90-97 at the end of the game. Ostioneros de Guaymas made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who led his team to a victory scoring 46 points (!!!). His fellow American import point guard Myron Allen (182-79, college: Lee JC) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international forward Michael Hayes Lizarraga (200-89, college: CS Northridge) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Garra Canera de Navolato players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains eighth place with 6-17 record. Garra Canera de Navolato lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Garra Canera de Navolato will play again against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
