Regular Season Round 30: Culiacan - Hermosillo 73-84

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Culiacan. First ranked Rayos de Hermosillo faced 4th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan. Guests from Hermosillo (22-6) defeated host Caballeros de Culiacan (15-13) 84-73. The game without a history. Rayos de Hermosillo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Rayos de Hermosillo outrebounded Caballeros de Culiacan 39-27 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard A.J. Davis (198-87, college: JMU) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach Dan Tacheny used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St., agency: I.D.S. Law) who recorded 23 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Defending champion maintains first position with 22-6 record. Newly promoted Caballeros de Culiacan keeps the fourth place with 13 games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caballeros de Culiacan will play on the road against Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
