The game in Nogales was also quite interesting. 4th placed Caballeros de Culiacan (15-14) played at the court of sixth ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (12-17). Fuerza Guinda Nogales managed to secure a 8-point victory 86-78 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Caballeros de Culiacan won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fuerza Guinda Nogales made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales outrebounded Caballeros de Culiacan 43-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) who led the winners and scored 29 points. Forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) accounted for 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Fuerza Guinda Nogales players scored in double figures. Fuerza Guinda Nogales' coach Chris Terrell used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Caballeros de Culiacan in the defeat. Fuerza Guinda Nogales maintains sixth place with 12-17 record. Caballeros de Culiacan lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will again meet at home higher ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caballeros de Culiacan will have a break next round.
