Lukoil opened win count in the NBL Finals. They overcame Levski Sofia at home court to gain 1-0 lead. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 34-22. But Levski Sofia won second period 27-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Lukoil Acad. won last quarter 24-18. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Levski Sofia's 46. Greek guard Dimitris Verginis (194-87) fired 16 points and 9 assists for the winners. Croatian center Jure Lalic (209-86, agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Five Lukoil Acad. players scored in double figures. American guard Brandon Heath (190-84, college: San Diego St.) produced 31 points and the other American import forward Jumaine Jones (202-79, college: Georgia) added 8 points and 17 rebounds respectively for lost side.
